Polydioxanone (PDO) thread contouring and lift is a non- surgical facelift procedure. Loose skin on the neck, face and body is safely and instantly lifted with minimal downtime.
PDO thread contouring / lift involves the placement of PDO threads in the face and neck to lift the required tissue. PDO threads stimulate collagen production before dissolving over time. The threads are either smooth (mono filaments) for improving skin texture or consist of barbs, cogs, anchors or screws to reposition the tissue.
PDO Thread Lift is suitable for both men and women who are affected by moderate mid face sagging, jowls and creasing from the nose to the lips. The lift is typically most beneficial for clients aged between 35 and 65 with moderate skin laxity.
• PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure. • PDO thread contouring can be carried out on a variety of areas of the face with long lasting results. It can also be used in the neck. • PDO thread lift provides an immediate lifting effect. • Stimulates collagen production. • PDO threads are made of re-absorbable material. • Minimal downtime. • Natural results. What does the procedure involve?
Prior to the procedure:
The treating doctor will take your medical history, perform a face/neck assessment and discuss the treatment in detail.
On the day of the procedure, treatment area will be photographed. Antibiotics will be administered one hour before the procedure followed by one tablet once a day for two days post- treatment. During the Procedure:
Local anaesthetics will be injected to numb the treatment areas. The PDO threads are inserted into the subcutaneous layer of the skin using small needles. A combination of large sized, barbed threads called cogs and smaller threads called monofilaments are used. For a midface lift PDO cog threads are inserted in the jawline and cheeks, in the forehead for an eye brow lift and in the neck for a neck lift.
Following the insertion of the threads antibiotic cream will be applied to the treatment areas. Ice packs may be applied to minimise swelling and bruising.
Post procedure care: • Clients are advised to refrain from chewing or drinking hot liquids until their face has regained full sensation. • Clients are advised not to wash their face on the same day following the procedure. Gentle cleansing is permitted the next day. • Avoid opening the mouth wide and avoid routine dental treatment for at least 4 weeks post treatment. • Avoid taking aspirin for seven days after the treatment. • Avoid extreme temperatures (sauna, etc.) for seven days after the treatment. • Avoid having other cosmetic treatments for 14 days after the treatment. Any discomfort following the procedure can be managed effectively by taking oral paracetamol two to three times daily after meals.
It is normal to experience mild bruising and swelling for a few days following treatment. To minimise the risks of bruising or a haematoma the treating clinician will use a cannula to insert the deep cog threads. The use of cannulas also helps prevent facial nerve trauma.
Following treatment clients are reviewed at seven days, one month and three months. However, in the event of any concerns, the clinic will be on hand to support you immediately.
The procedure is performed by Dr Baba, a highly trained and experienced aesthetic doctor who is also a senior trainer for this procedure at London Aesthetic Academy (www.londonaestheticacademy.co.uk)
