Mouth to nose lines or “nasolabial folds” are the lines or skin folds that develop between the side of the nose and the corner of the mouth.
Nasolabial folds develop due to bone changes with advancing age and a reduction in the fat pads in the upper outer cheeks. This loss of volume loss means the skin on the cheeks loses its support structure which causes it to sag and nasolabial folds develop. Other causes include age related weakening of facial muscles and loss of collagen in the skin. The appearance of nasolabial folds can be exacerbated by significant weight loss, smoking and sun damage.
Nasolabial folds can be treated by injecting dermal fillers such as Restylane, Restylane Perlane, Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Ultra 4, Juvederm Ultra 4, Juvederm Volift and Radiesse. Injecting dermal filler ( such as Restylane Sub-Q, Juvederm Voluma and Radiesse) into sunken/hollow cheeks is an effective solution for a non-surgical mid-face lift.
