The term “turkey neck” is used to refer to the appearance of loose and sagging skin under the neck. This resembles the neck of a turkey hence the name.
Turkey neck is typically caused by the muscles in the neck weakening with age and loss of skin elasticity. These two factors combined causes the skin on the neck to sag. Significant weight loss can also result in turkey neck.
Botox® injected into the platysmal bands (neck muscles), jawline and the lower face effectively reduces the appearance of ‘Turkey neck’. Botox enables the lifting muscles to work unopposed, resulting in the appearance of a firmer jaw and a smoother neck.
Other treatment alternatives to Botox include; laser skin tightening, thread lift, platelet rich plasma and Profhilo injections.
The procedure is performed by Dr Baba, a highly trained and experienced aesthetic doctor who is also a senior trainer for this procedure at London Aesthetic Academy (www.londonaestheticacademy.co.uk).
